Nerudova 211/14 Prague 1 tel: +420 226 201 910-13 email: residence-santini@prague-holiday.cz :: Location Santini Residence is settled in a pictorial house from 17th century in Nerudova Street, which used to be a part of the Royal Way. It lies on the left riverbank of Vltava in the neighbourhood of famous Charles bridge, Lesser Town square with its dominating feature, St. Nicholas church, green Petøín gardens, well-known Kampa Island - favourite place of Prague artists and many other unforgettable landmarks of Lesser Town. Valkounský house no. 14 is named after the owner knight Bohuchval Valkoun from Adlar from the beginning of 17th century. The house was rebuilt in 16th century, same as neighbouring houses after fire in 1541, according to early-baroque project of Kryštof Dientzenhofer. It was bought in 1601 by Kašpar, brother of Kaplíø from Sulevice, executed on the Old Town Square. The house acquired developed baroque shape during 1705 - 1727, when it was owned by a famous baroque architect Jan Santini Aichel. From his work preserved just curly cornices to these days. When Santini died, renowned goldsmith Diesbach bought the house in auction sale and built up third floor. Left entrance is completed by a Medusa relief, beyond the right entrance, there is a cartouche and a small head next to it. Above the second floor windows, there is an oval cartouche with the painting of Virgin Mary and the Holy Trinity. Functional sundial is placed on the façade in the inner block.
