About Three Golden Chains****
Originally, only a furrier's workshop, dating back to the 14th century as
the "House at Three Golden Chains", the building grew gradually, through
creative hands of time, becoming the current shape. The Hotel-Residence with
its Gothic foundations is in this respect a very successful example of how
the house was shaped for many centuries. The house of today is that of
classicism, while the ground floor of the house has to be considered as
Gothic. The majority of vaults of the ground floor and the first floor of
the building refers to a more important Renaissance reconstruction at the
beginning of the 17th century culminating with a pair of shields and an oval
tympanum of the main façade finished in the late 18th century, after which
also a classicism change of the façade in the 1st half of the 19th century
followed.
Valuable architectonic details include Renaissance painted timbering in
suites, classicism entrance gates to the passageway, consoles on the 1st and
2nd floors and stick railings of the built on gallery on both floors.
